Alexander Way-B, is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. He is dyslexic, and has always levitated towards making art, ever since he was a child. As a young adult he studied both fine art and craft, culminating in a degree in ceramics and glass.

He has been a practicing artist on and off for over 20 years now and has worked in a large range of materials and techniques. Always experimenting and trying new ways to work, recently he moved into experimenting with digital art and found the whole new way of working exciting. After adapting to digital work, he now does commissions for writers, website design and one off pieces, along with his own drawings.

The pieces in this collection are a result of a unique artistic journey, one that began with a desire to explore the nature of code itself. Influenced by traditional art forms like pointillism and ink stippling, I set out to create drawings using actual binary. This involved significant research and experimentation, eventually leading me to a distinct process and what I now call my "code art" style.

My work often explores the intriguing space between the digital and the analog. It invites contemplation on whether what you're seeing is an image, or simply intricate lines of code. This becomes particularly evident when the artwork is viewed at different distances. Printed large, the pieces first register as complete images. As you approach, the underlying code begins to emerge, and upon very close inspection, the individual binary lines become the dominant visual element.

Striving to overcome the struggles of dyslexia and attempting to write novels

Becoming a father was one of the most important joys of his life, and as his daughter Daisy B grew, she became extremely interested in reading – something that Alexander had always struggled with and avoided. One day she requested he read her the Chronicles of Narnia, to which he declined, explaining that it would be impossible! But Daisy would not take ‘No’ for an answer, and persisted to ask. Eventually he agreed - thinking it would show her how impossible it was. That first book was very, very slow and filled with stumbling. A real struggle, but together they found joy and connection in discovering the story. The first of many hundred that Daisy requested and Alexander secretly loved reading with her. After a few years Daisy and Alexander began to make up their own stories, some of which Daisy wanted to see as books. So Alexander set about the impossible task of attempting to write a book. A task that was like climbing a mountain. But after many months, and a LOT of editor support he released their first book – the first of 5. Alexander does not really believe that he is a writer, but more that he has done something that inherently was almost impossible for him.
